While big chains like Target and Wal-Mart continue to dominate the shopping world in the United States, one smaller chain in New England remains popular for many shoppers. This chain is Ocean State Job Lot, a liquidation store features bargains on everything from food to clothing. The Ocean State Job Lot in Griswold, Connecticut is a great one, offering easy aisles to stroll through and many bargains on gifts and other things.
When you first enter the store, located at a former Ames, the week’s sale ad is plastered right on the wall. The nice thing about this store is that a lot of the featured sales items are displayed on shelves right as you enter so you do not need to search endlessly around the store for them. The sales are usually associated with what is happening during the calendar year and this Ocean Position is a gargantuan plot to buy pool supplies during the summer at low prices.
As you pass the items that are for sale, you will enter a exiguous piece featuring bedding and sleepwear. A bigger section in the back has a lot more bedding supplies, but this section features some of the best bargains. Pajama pants range from five to ten dollars and are high quality, some featuring designs like The Simpsons and Family Guy and others made from companies like Nautica.
The next section is their seasonal section, and changes throughout the year. From November through December it is featured as a colossal holiday section with stockings, decorations, and wrapping paper, all at very low prices. They have a lot of different stocking stuffers and other things for Christmas. During the summer the section is filled with pool supplies and toys, and also anything for any holiday throughout the year.
Many people will cessation at the seasonal section on their way to the toy fragment. Featuring toys that were stores six months to a year ago, the prices on them are drastically cut and multiple toys can be purchased for a very low price. There is also a whole wall of puzzles and board games in this section. Instead of name brands like Guess Who or Battle Ship, Ocean Situation has a selection of cheaper games without the name brand that are just as fun. They also have outdated games from TV shows that have lost their popularity and even newer things like Hanna Montana and High School Musical. The toy section is always changing and there are a lot of things that you could pick up there.
Towards the middle of the store is a clothing section, featuring a small fraction of clothes for people of all ages. The selection is always changing here as well, with different things coming in and out. They once had a Macy Grey t-shirt available for only 3.99.
The food section does not offer anything fresh, but does have a lot of different things from candy to spaghetti to canned goods. All of these are also at very low prices and have a mix of name brand and general items.
Ocean State Job Lot in Griswold, Connecticut is almost like a yard sale, searching through the store for things can almost me more fun than actually using the bought product.
